Mission Statement
The Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS) supports our members as school leaders who guide students and their families through the college admission process. ACCIS provides professional development, mentorship, and thought leadership to promote ethical and student-centered educational policies and practices.


Director of Member Services and Operations

ACCIS seeks a full-time employee in a newly created position to join the executive director and two part-time team members to grow, sustain, and inspire membership and to support current and future program needs. The Director of Member Services and Operations will take a lead role in association operations, member services and outreach, managing membership and systems to benefit ACCIS member schools and the organization. Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating the logistics of the Association’s professional development offerings with their respective chairs. The Director of Member Services and Operations will report directly to and collaborate with the Executive Director and will work closely with ACCIS Leadership Team members to support the goals of the Association. ACCIS is a remote office organization and all staff work from home.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Serve as leader of Member Services to:

  • develop materials promoting ACCIS membership to new and renewing schools;
  • lead outreach to potential member and non-renewing schools;
  • provide information on member benefits and services;
  • assist committee chairs and executive director in matching interested members with volunteer opportunities;
  • coordinate, maintain, and review membership information to provide support for:
    • questions regarding new member eligibility and renewal;
    • billing questions regarding open invoices, payment, or refunds;
    • program registration or cancellation;
    • updates to membership profiles for individuals and schools.

Work with designated program chairs to plan, implement, and assess professional development opportunities (existing and new) and:

  • serve as logistics coordinator, to include scheduling, contracts, etc. in support of ACCIS programs and events; 
  • provide on-site assistance with registration and logistics;
  • work with sites/vendors to negotiate favorable contracts;
  • require and maintain a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion in program planning;
  • deliver varied program experiences and provide opportunities for ACCIS members to discuss and exchange best practices;
  • generate revenue to support the long-term financial viability of ACCIS;
  • consistently improve upon previous events and address new topics of interest;
  • collaborate to innovate and create new programs;
  • attend professional development programs, as possible, to gain knowledge and experience and to network with member schools.

Provide administrative support to:

  • Executive Director as needed: drafting/reviewing correspondence, exporting rosters and reports, etc.;
  • support and maintain website, Career Opportunities page, events in the calendar, etc.;
  • ACCIS 360 Review: provide support to chair and serve as liaison to teams for documentation and reimbursement process for this member-consultancy program;
  • Sponsorship program/chair by:
    • tracking benefits and follow up;
    • providing follow up communication with sponsors about benefits and new opportunities;
    • service as an information resource for potential sponsors.

  • Experience working in independent schools and familiarity with college counseling and/or in administrative support and event planning/management;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple program initiatives simultaneously and gather the required resources to deliver programs effectively;
  • Ability to maintain positive communication with sponsors and potential sponsors for support of program/event underwriting;
  • Familiarity in using Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Technical proficiency in using Google Workspace Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Google Sites, etc.)
  • Membership or constituent database (AMS) experience, specifically MemberClicks Oasis;
  • Comfort in working virtually from a remote location and enthusiasm for connecting via Zoom and other mobile office technology with ACCIS team members in multiple locations;
  • Sense of humor and desire to collaborate with a great team. 

While the Director of Member Services and Operations will work remotely, 10-15 days of travel per year (at minimum) will be expected, including to the ACCIS programs they will support. Bachelor's degree preferred; seeking candidates with three to five years experience in association/organization administrative support and/or event management and willingness to learn and manage the daily operations of the organization.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is $70,000-75,000 depending upon experience; benefits include 401k plan, health insurance premium allowance, and generous paid vacation (federal holidays + 15 days) and sick leave (15 days per year).
