March 1 - 5, 2020

PROGRAM IS FULL.

.

The Northwest Five Consortium comprises five premier liberal arts colleges in Oregon and Washington: Lewis & Clark College (Portland, OR), Reed College (Portland, OR), University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA), Whitman College (Walla Walla, WA), and Willamette University (Salem, OR). These five national liberal arts colleges are pleased to cooperate in showing you some of what the northwest has to offer students.

As you consider participation in this tour, the NW5 campuses ask that you only register if you have not attended the NW5 Tour within the past 5 years AND no one from your school was represented on the tour last year.

Registration fee will be $250 for a double occupancy hotel room and $450 for a single occupancy room (limited availability). Attendees also pay for round-trip travel to/from the tour. Included in the registration fee are hotel accommodations, transportation between campuses, and meals from Sunday evening through Thursday noon. Counselors are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel to Seattle and from Portland and must be able to stay for the entire tour. Please do not arrange travel until your registration and payment are confirmed. For general planning purposes, attendees must arrive in Seattle (SEA airport) by 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 1. Departure at the end of the tour will be from Portland (PDX airport) and flights must be scheduled to depart no earlier than 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 5. For those who are unable to secure flights for Thursday evening departure, the NW5 Consortium may arrange for an additional hotel night upon request.

Questions? Feel free to contact Emmi Harward.
Note - the Summer Institute Post-Tour will not return to these campuses.

Members must be logged in to their ACCIS online accounts to register; we encourage all key school contacts to ensure that their office assistants have their own accounts to facilitate registration. New Counselors Workshop

June 26 - 28, 2020
University of Oregon, Eugene, OR

Registration will open on April 14 at 12:00 pm ET/9:00 am PT on this page.
Registration fee is $500 including on-campus housing (commuter fee is $450).

The New Counselors Workshop is designed for college counselors who are new to the work, whether shifting from another role in independent schools, moving from college admission, or approaching the role with fresh eyes. This gathering of 35 participants, led by a rockstar ACCIS-member faculty, focuses on essential skills, knowledge, and strategies for guiding students and families through the college search process, learning about college options, and networking resources for continued professional growth.

*We ask that you only register if you know that you will use the space for a new hire. Current members are able to register a "guest" if the new hire/attendee does not yet have an ACCIS account of their own. If you would like to register a new counselor for the Summer Institute as well, please do so separately AFTER a new hire profile has been created.

Summer Institute

June 28 - July 1, 2020
University of Oregon, Eugene, OR

Registration will open on March 12 at 12:00 pm ET/9:00 am PT on this page.
Registration fee is $600 including on-campus housing (commuter fee is $550).
If you think you will want to stay off-campus, please explore your housing options BEFORE you register.

ACCIS Summer Institute remains a highlight of the year for our members. Each summer, we travel to a fantastic college campus for intentional time together to share our own experience and expertise. This is what makes our flagship professional development event different from other conferences; every conversation is relevant to the work of college counseling in independent schools. Join us at the University of Oregon as we come together to ask and answer questions, and much more.

Post-Summer Institute College Tour

July 1, 2020
Oregon State University

Registration will also open on March 12 at 12:00 pm ET/9:00 am PT on this page.
Tentative schedule and tour fee will be posted here shortly.

As Summer Institute at the University of Oregon ends, 30 participants will depart early in the morning for a day trip to visit Oregon State University. A charter bus will take participants (and their luggage) north to Corvallis for the day, and will return to drop off at the Eugene (EUG) airport.

Colloquium

Rec Writers Workshop
St. George's School, RI
July 27 - 29, 2020

Registration will open on February 18 at 12:00 pm ET/9:00 am PT on this page.
Registration fee is $450 and this year does NOT include on-campus housing. Participants can reserve a room in our discounted-rate block at the Wyndham Newport Hotel.

Back by popular demand, the ACCIS Colloquium 2020 is a Rec Writers Workshop hosted by St. George's School in Newport, Rhode Island. The Workshop is intended to help college counselors sharpen their skills in recommendation letter-writing. Workshop sessions will offer participants the chance to have a few of their letters reviewed - with warmth and positivity - by trusted, professional peers. Experienced admission leaders will join the program to discuss letter-writing from their perspectives, highlighting strategies for conveying student candidacies concisely and powerfully. Finally, there’s a small amount of writing time built into the program. Participants can put into practice what they’ve learned, maybe even trying out a new approach or letter format.

Your registration fee will cover meals and programming. All meals will be covered from Monday evening through breakfast on Wednesday. Monday evening we will be hosted on the campus of Salve Regina University; breakfast will be hosted both Tuesday and Wednesday by St. George’s School, and an ACCIS sponsored dinner on Tuesday night will be at a local Newport favorite. Discounted hotel rates for single and double occupancy will be available at the Wyndham Newport Hotel. Plan to arrive in Newport in time to kick-off the Colloquium at 4:00 pm on Monday. We will wrap up on Wednesday before lunch. There will be an optional visit to Providence College available to interested participants on Wednesday afternoon.

New Directors Workshop

NDW is offered every other year and will return in July 2021.
